Greetings from Lake Worth (One of Many)

February 1, 2017

When considering where to put down roots in South Florida make sure Lake Worth is on your list. Located on the central coast of Palm Beach county, it is ten miles to West Palm Beach and easy access to I-95. While much of Palm Beach County has been scarred by a monotony of conformity, Lake Worth remains a hold out. Much of Lake Worth was built in the early part of the 20th Century, therefore it is more compact and actually walkable. It has a classic central downtown complete with a city hall, a post office, shops, businesses and restaurants. Almost everything you needs is accessible with a walk down Lake and Lucerne Avenues. Lake Worth has many classic homes ranging from cottages and bungalows, to Spanish style and stucco structures. With a population of roughly 38,000, Lake Worth has its distinctive neighborhoods that make it further unique from the rest of South Florida.

Lake Worth has a lot to offer its residents ranging from a vibrant arts scene, community events, its own beach and affordable home prices. The median home sale price, including condos in Lake Worth in 2016 was $215,000. For Palm Beach County on the whole the median home sale price, condos included, for 2016 was $242,000. Over the past year home prices have gone up across the board at a rate of almost 9% in Palm Beach County. If you want to rent in Palm Beach County, the median price of a 2 bedroom rental was $1,450. Renting a two bedroom apartment or cottage in Lake Worth will run you a little less at a median price of $1,250 per month.
